Etching by Carolyn Letourneau7/21 Summer Stroll Event
Meet the Artist: Carolyn Letourneau
For this evening's Summer Stroll, Birch St. House & Garden is excited to host West Roxbury artist Carolyn Letourneau and a selection of her etchings and aquatints.

On display are two bodies of work by Carolyn. The first is a series of black and white etchings of trees. My personal favorites pull me into a world of fairy tales like Snow White and Red Riding Hood.

Her second grouping combines the hard structure of a grid with fluid curves, all washed in warm gold and grey hues. Abstract at first look, lilies, magnolias and other images peek out.

Carolyn will be in the store to talk about her work Thursday, July 21 from 6-8PM. Her exhibit will remain in the store through the end of August.

Local Scenes: Photography by Local Artist Tom Fletcher
You are invited to take a tour of Roslindale and Jamaica Plain through the eyes of Photographer Tom Fletcher on at Birch St. House & Garden this fall.

Tom, who currently lives in West Roxbury, has considered the Roslindale/Jamaica Plain neighborhood home for some time. "The people bring the energy, ideas and constant expansion of great conversation that makes our community such a wonderful place to share through photography," says Tom.

All of Tom's photos are originals and reflect the places he has been and things he likes. The photos are framed the way they were taken with the exception of the occasional conversion to black and white.

Roslindale is the place to Shop!

Weekly Dig! reporter Jaime Lutz recently visited Roslindale and discovered our secret -- we're a unique shopping destination. Read Jaime's review of Birch St. House & Garden and five other businesses in our neighborhood.

Guatemala Comes to Birch St.
Mark your calendars. I'm hosting a Guatemala Night on Friday, September 24 from 5-9PM. This evening I will debut my hand-crafted finds from my summer trip to Guatemala. While there I shopped in Antigua, Panajachel and Chichicastanego for
  • Scarves
  • Table linens
  • Wall decor
  • Masks
  • Key chains
  • Jewelry
  • Mobiles
  • and more.

The night will include traditional Guatemala music (my friends and family know I can't go anywhere without buying new music for the store!), Hors 'dourves, and refreshments.
